Business Systems Analyst (Data, Operations & Performance) (Job Code 4653) - Boston


Responsibilities include:
• Drive efforts that identify business requirements.
• Write specifications for new/revised systems based on knowledge of business needs by working closely with senior department managers and key department members.
• Identify and document scope changes escalating appropriately to project manager for action.
• Participate in functional and change impact analysis for existing business processes and develops recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
• Conduct business and systems requirements analysis at code and data level such as data mapping, and data conversion analysis.
• Perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc customer requests.
• Work with Business and Technology Departments to identify data lineage analysis, source and destination requirements for applications.
• Analyze the business processes in terms of activities (tasks), workflow and dataflow.
• Facilitate the creation of testing documentation and manages the testing process.
• Research, track and communicate business issues and software defects related to projects and level 2 applications support.
• Participate and support post implementation process including end user training.
• Collaborate with team members and manager to define standards for future business analysis efforts.

Qualifications
The candidate should have a minimum of 5-8 years of experience working as an IT business systems analyst in the financial services industry. In addition, the position requires:
• BS degree in MIS, BA or related discipline
• Strong understanding of global investment portfolio accounting and portfolio reporting
• Strong understanding of investment processes, accounting and performance measurement systems, workflows and data
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong business and technical writing skills
• Experience in managing small to medium scale projects or subcomponents of a major project
• Ability to lead project meetings with users
• Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities
• Solid MS Project /Visio and MS Office application skills
• Working knowledge of SQL (Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase)
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements from users
• Experience with systems integration in the financial services industry
• Experience with systems development lifecycle methodology
• Experience with portfolio accounting systems such as HiNet, performance measurement systems such as StatPro and FactSet and fixed income systems such as Aladdin
• Prior knowledge of BARRA, GIPS, Bloomberg, Reuters desired
• Previous direct responsibility for writing structured business requirements, functional specifications, test plans and test cases

Senior Database Systems Administrator    (Job Code 4655) – Boston
Position Overview:
The Senior Database Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for ensuring the availability and optimization of our client’s production, development, and QA databases.  Must have a strong background in database administration. A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field is preferred. The SDSA will assist in reviewing and deploying development SQL code as well as maintain the refreshing of Dev and QA environments. Additionally, the SDSA will be a member of the Infrastructure Group’s leadership team and help provide both technical and staffing leadership. Other duties include documentation, database application support and troubleshooting, as well as development tasks focused on retrieving and displaying production data for various internal groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:

•Ensure that  databases are available to end users at all times.
•Implement enhancements and updates to ensure technology is most current. Troubleshoot as problems arise.
• Provide architectural input and direction for  evolving database environments.
• Ensure that both database and query performance is optimized, and automated database processes including replication, Data Transformation Services (DTS) and SSIS are performing optimally.
• Support Database service delivery to the   business units 24X7, including on call rotation.
• Maintain ongoing performance monitoring and error reporting systems as well as efficient problem resolution.
• Responsible for database disaster recovery of the entire database environment which includes managing a timely SQL backup schedule to protect the integrity of the information/data stored as well as off site replication.
• Responsible for documenting the backup processes and documenting the regular testing all of the DR process.
• Assist software developers with database development projects. Responsible for reviewing development code and ensuring established coding standards are applied consistently.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Core technologies/Skills (expertise expected in the following):
• 5+ years of closely related experience with MSSQL 2008
• Sybase
• MySQL
• Scripting experience.
• Proficient SQL Profiler skills.
• T-SQL performance and optimization skills are required.
• A thorough understanding of database hardware design, including disk subsystems

Secondary technologies (mastery or familiarity with preferred):
• Experience with MSSQL databases in a SAN environment preferred.
• Database Replication technology experience.

Systems Engineer (Job Code 4657) – Boston
 
Position Overview:
The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for technical engineering, implementation and support of a broad base of technologies to support our client’s global technology needs.
In addition the Systems Engineer will be responsible for assisting in capacity planning, disaster recovery, datacenter management, backups, documentation, server based application support and tier 3 troubleshooting. This person must have a strong IT Operations and engineering background with at least 5 years of experience preferably in a buy side financial services organization
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure that enterprise computing resources are available to the end users at all times.
• Implement enhancements & updates to ensure technology currency. Troubleshoot as problems arise.
• Maintain & manage existing server, network & application environments.
• Implement new equipment. Plan and expand the enterprise systems infrastructure. Coordinate systems capabilities with user and business needs while anticipating future requirements of both the internal systems and end users.
• Act as technical resource & mentor for junior staff on Infrastructure Service teams.
• Support IT service delivery to the  business units 24X7, including on call rotation.
• Ensure on time delivery of Infrastructure Projects & Initiatives
• Assist in delivering successful change management and maintenance scheduling
• Assist in re-architecture of the enterprise network to support 10g, Video & Datacenter Collocation
• Close out the global MS Exchange 2010 migration.
• Overhaul remote access to the Disaster Recovery facility.
• Assist in migration of core datacenter to 3rd party collocation facility

 Enterprise Operations Engineer - (Job Code 4642)- Boston
 
The Enterprise Operations Engineer is primarily responsible for championing the security, stability, scalability and maintainability of our client’s global infrastructure. This includes the design and implementation of operational processes as well as participation in systems architecture and design. The Enterprise Operations Engineer will be responsible for ensuring and managing delivery of projects, determining project resources, and building processes and procedures to ensure operational excellence for the enterprise infrastructure. In addition, the Enterprise Operations Engineer will be responsible for assisting in capacity planning, disaster recovery, backups, documentation, server based application support and troubleshooting and network project implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Ensure that enterprise computing resources are available to the end users at all times.
•    Implement enhancements and updates to ensure technology currency. Troubleshoot as problems arise.

Qualifications:
•    The Enterprise Operations Engineer must have a strong IT Operations and engineering background with at least 5 years of experience, preferably in a financial services organization.
•    Bachelors degree required.
•    Demonstrated ability to lead and influence other IT professionals.
•    Strong understanding of client-server and networking components, server architectures, server performance bottlenecks, network and storage infrastructures.
•    Experience automating, monitoring and auditing administrative tasks.
•    Experience creating, executing, monitoring and reporting on security controls and hardening.
•    In-depth and up to date technical knowledge and hands on experience with installation, configuration and administration of most of the following technologies:
o    Storage Area Network Technologies

•    Helpful certifications would include CISCO, VMWare, MSCE and/or Project Management

Senior Software Developer/Financial Services - (job code 4650) – Boston

Our client is a financial services firm that did over $4 billion last quarter. Outstanding benefits including 30% bonus. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer.  This individual will focus on the client’s Core Applications providing software application implementation, integration and support.  This role will work closely with their Senior Software Developers and Architect, as well as, other Information Technology Business staff.  From project to project, the person in this role will take explicit direction from project sponsoring Business leaders, which include:  Sales, Operations, Compliance, Global Equity and Macro Strategies.  Sometimes this will entail consensus building and requirements gathering, while at other times, it will require a heads-down focused development effort.


 Responsibilities include:
• Support, build and integrate proprietary applications, as well as, integrate 3rd party vendor systems into corporate systems environment as a primary responsibility;
• Support of business-oriented services, including a role in the early morning providing oversight of daily jobs and data loads as a secondary role
• Provide day-to-day support, tactical support and development, as well as significant-sized strategic development
 Candidate requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in Technology and Software Development
• Experience developing Investment Management and/or Trading systems
• Knowledge of Microsoft-based technologies, including Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), C# and SQL Server strongly desired; and some background in Visual Basic (VB6)
• Knowledge of Security & Account Master, Trade Delivery, Cash Management, and Portfolio Accounting concepts
